V Week Challenge - next week
AIM: to raise awareness of the impact of animals on climate change
ONE week - to put the needs of others and the planet's ahead of our own, and go vegetarian for that week! and if you're already vegetarian, go vegan!
FACT
Going on a Vegan diet will save 5.4 tons of CO2 per year. (Eshel G, and P.A. Martin, Earth Interactions, 2006).
That's approx. the weight of 2.5 cars
"The livestock sector is a major player, responsible for 18% of greenhouse gas emissions measured in CO2 equivalent. This is a higher share than transport."
FAO report, Livestock's Long Shadow, 2006. This study assumed methane was 25 times more potent than CO2.
Over 100 years, methane = 25 times CO2
Over 20 years, methane = 72 times CO2
