Sustainability Week is HERE!
From Monday August 23 till Friday 27, keep your eyes open for a number of Sustainability related events that will be happening around campus.
Monday: Bike breakfast, 8-10am at the Sam Cracknell Pavilion on the main walk way.
The UNSW Bike Club will be offering up a comprehensive breakfast featuring fruit, pastries, tea and other goodies. A great chance to recharge after that commute to uni before heading off to class. Even if you are not riding at the moment, this would be a great chance to pick up some tips, cycle routes, and other advice.
Tuesday: Green Community BBQ. Physics Lawn 12.30 -2.30
A seriously scrumptious event that is not to be missed! Come along for a vegetarian BBQ wrap by donation. Have a chat with others about environmental issues, find out more about what the Enviro Collective gets up to, and how you can be more involved. (Also, if you are free from 10am this day and would like to lend a hand cutting vegies, we love to hear from you!)
Wednesday: Sustainability at UNSW Forum, 12-1pm Red Centre G001 (entrance closest to UNSW international/large fig tree)
Come and find out where UNSW is at in terms of sustainability. Insight to be provided by:
- Aaron Magner, UNSW Sustainability Director
- A/Prof.Alistair Sproul, senior academic from the School of Photovoltaics and Renewable energy
- Members of the Enviro Collective
Friday: Co-op crawl, meet 8.45am at the Food co-op (around the back of the Roundhouse)
Join us on a tour of Sydney's food co-ops by bike, or by public transport (your choice) starting at UNSW's Thoughtful Foods then continuing on the ferry to Manly, UTS Ultimo, Sydney University, and ending at Alfalfa House in Enmore around 5pm. Even if you dont know much about the co-op this is a really neat opportunity to find out what’s out there. Cycling the city in a group is also a lot of fun! If you cant spare the whole day, feel free to stay for as long as you like.
